Pass the manual on to whomsoever might acquire the scale at a later date. -1- CURLER SET KH 1804 Intended use This appliance is intended for human hair care and only for use in domestic households. It is not intended for use on animals or in commercial or industrial environments. Safety information To avoid potentially fatal injury through electric shock: · Never touch the appliance or the power plug with wet or moist hands for as long as the power plug is in the wall socket · Never use the appliance near water, particularly not near sinks, baths or other vessels. . · Ensure that the power cable never becomes wet or damp during operation. Therefore only touch the handle and the buttons. · Always use the appliance with attachments only, never on its own, as the connector for the accessories becomes hot during operation. · Allow the appliance to cool down before attaching or detaching accessories. · Only use the enclosed original accessories, as they have been optimized to work with this appliance. Other parts are possibly not adequately safe. · Keep air inlet and outlet openings clear for an unimpaired air flow. Commissioning Before starting the appliance up, make certain that ... ­ the appliance and the accessories are in good working order, ­ all packaging material has been removed. If necessary, clean the accessories as described under "Cleaning and Care". Attaching/detaching accessories Caution: After operation, the appliance components may be hot! To detach an accessory ... · switch off the appliance first and allow it to cool down · withdraw the accessory -3- Switching on/off / Selecting a heat level When you have attached the required accessory and inserted the plug into the power socket, you can switch the appliance on with the step switch e and select the output level: ,,0" ,,C" ,,1" ,,2" The appliance is switched off for a cold air-flow for a reduced air-flow strength with heat for a high air-flow strength with heat Brush attachment The brush attachment o is suitable for styling pony-tails or thin strands. 1. Attach the brush attachment o onto the appliance as described in the chapter "Attaching/detaching accessories". 2. Slide the step switch e onto the desired setting. 3. Style the pony-tail or strands as desired. 4. Comb the hair through when it has cooled down. Volume attachment The volume attachment i helps to bring fullness into the hair. You can use the volume attachment i either directly at the hair roots or at any position along the length of the hair. 1. Take ca. 5 cm (ca. 2 in) wide strands and slide them between the fingers of the volume attachment i. 2. Turn the volume attachment i to obtain the desired shape and fullness. 3. Allow the warm air to take effect for a few seconds. 4. Pull the volume attachment i from the hair without pressing the unlocking device w button. You switch the appliance off by sliding the step switch e to the position "0" (= appliance off). Using the attachments Warm-air round brush The warm-air round brush u is intended for the styling of thicker strands or waves. 1. Attach the warm-air round brush u onto the appliance as described in the chapter "Attaching/detaching accessories". 2. Slide the step switch e onto the desired setting. 3. Take hair strands with a maximum width of 5 cm (ca. 2 in) and wrap them from the ends to the roots around the warm-air round brush u. 4. When the strands of hair are dry, press the release button w and guide the warm-air round brush u slowly back through the hair. As the warm-air round brush u can turn itself because of the pressing of the release button w, it is possible to draw it from the hair without the styling being stressed. 5. Comb the hair through when it has cooled down. Cleaning and care Never open the housing of the appliance. There are no operating elements inside. An open housing will create the risk of a potentially life-threatening electrical shock . Before cleaning the device, .... · always disconnect the power plug from the power socket · and let it cool down completely. -4- Under no circumstances may the accessories be immersed in water or other fluids! There would be the risk of a potentially fatal electric shock upon the next use of the appliance should moisture be present in the voltage conducting elements . · Clean the appliance components with a dry or at most slightly damp cloth ­ and carefully dry all parts afterwards. Clean the air intake grill r at regular intervals with a soft brush . If you do not, there is a risk of fire! Disposal Do not dispose of the appliance in your normal domestic waste. This appliance is subject to the European Guidelines 2002/96/EG. Dispose of the appliance through an approved disposal centre or at your community waste facility. Observe the currently applicable regulations. In case of doubt, please contact your waste disposal centre. Dispose of all packaging materials in an environmentally friendly manner. A few tips for the perfect hairstyle Only style your hair when it is already almost dry. Divide your hair into individual strands for more volume. You will achieve additonal volume by starting to dry your hair at the hairline and working down towards the ends. After switching off the appliance, wait for a few seconds before releasing the curl. Let your hair cool down well before combing. Warranty and Service The warranty for this appliance is for 3 years from the date of purchase. The appliance has been manufactured with care and meticulously examined before delivery. Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the case of a warranty claim, please make contact by telephone with our service department. Only in this way can a post-free despatch for your goods be assured. The warranty covers only claims for material and maufacturing defects, not for wearing parts or for damage to fragile components, e.g. buttons or batteries.
