Use your cleaner out of doors on wet surfaces, or for wet pick-up. Pick up matches, hot ash, and cigarette ends, hard or sharp objects or anything that may damage the cleaner. Spray with, or pick up flammable liquids, cleaning fluids, aerosols, or their vapours as this may cause risk of fire/explosion. Run over the supply cord whilst using the cleaner or remove the plug by pulling on the cord. Stand on or wrap the power cord around arms or legs when using your cleaner. Continue to use your cleaner, if it appears to be faulty. If the supply cord is damaged stop using the cleaner IMMEDIATELY. The supply cord must be replaced by an authorised Hoover service engineer to avoid a safety hazard. Re-charge batteries, dispose of in fire or dissect - danger of explosion. - IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDERS This cleaner should only be used for domestic cleaning as described in this User Guide. Please ensure that this guide is fully understood before operating this appliance. WARNING: - Electricity can be extremely dangerous. This appliance is double insulated, and must not be earthed. This plug is fitted with a 13-amp fuse. (UK only). IMPORTANT: - The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: BLUE - Neutral BROWN - Live TO AVOID SAFETY HAZARDS THE CLEANER MUST ONLY BE REPAIRED BY A HOOVER SERVICE ENGINEER. GETTING TO KNOW YOUR CLEANER Remove the cleaner and accessories from the packaging. Please dispose of bags and other packaging material in a safe and conscientious way. STATIC ELECTRICITY: - Some carpets can cause a small build up of static electricity. Any static discharge is not hazardous to health. REMEMBER: - After use, switch the cleaner off and remove the plug from the electricity supply. Always switch off and remove the plug before cleaning the appliance or attempting any maintenance. 4 GB ASSEMBLING YOUR CLEANER 1. 2. To assemble the ZoomTube - Push connector into the hose inlet. Please note to release: press in hose connector and pull out (Picture 1) To assemble the extension tubes to the floor nozzle and the handle - Push and twist to lock. (Picture 2) 7. ZOOM-tube extension - The unique ZOOM-tube provides, when required, an extra 3 metres of cleaning reach. Simply turn the clip ring and pull the handle to release the ZOOM-tube. (Picture 9) REMEMBER : Do not position the cleaner above you when cleaning stairs. ZOOM-tube retraction - Pull valve lever to retract the ZOOM-tube. (Picture10). Release valve lever when ZOOM-tube has fully retracted. Connect clip ring to handle and twist & lock shown. (Picture 11) Switch off at end of use - Press the on/off pedal to switch off the cleaner. Unplug from socket and press the cord rewind pedal. (Picture 12) Parking and storage - The extension tube can be parked for temporary storage during cleaning or in the storage position when not in use. (Picture 13 &14) 8. 9. USING YOUR CLEANER 10. 1. 2. 3. Power supply - Extract cord and plug in to power supply. Please make sure the cord is fully extended before using the cleaner. (Picture 3) Extension tube length - Adjust the length of the metal tube to suit your height as shown. (Picture 4) Carpet/hard floor selection - Press the pedal on the nozzle to lower the brush head when cleaning hard floors. Press the pedal again to lift the brush head when cleaning carpets. Please refer to the "ACCESSORIES" section for information about additional accessories.(Picture 5) On/off pedal - Press the pedal once to start the cleaner. (Picture 6) Power control - Battery powered Infrared remote control. (Picture 7) CLEANER MAINTENANCE Replacing the dust bag - If the bag check indicator flashes please check and, if necessary, replace the bag. 1. 2. Open cover, pull the bag collar to remove the bag from the bag chamber. (Picture 15). The full dust bag should be disposed of correctly and carefully. Fold a new bag as shown (Picture 16) and fit by inserting the bag collar into the location grooves, as shown (Picture 17) Part no: H36 - 09185091 Push the cover into the closed position. 4. 5. Pause Button Power Increase Power Decrease ECO-mode Infrared Remote Control Handset - Use the + and - buttons on the handset to increase and decrease suction. For normal use reducing energy consumption select ECO-mode. Important! - Manually select low power for delicate fabrics. Press pause for short stops, when finished, switch off by pressing the on/off button. 3. Remember: The bag check indicator may flash also if an obstruction has occured. In this case refer to the section "Removing a blockage from the system" Cleaning the lifetime washable filters - To maintain peak performance of your cleaner please wash the filters after 5 bag changes. Please wash them with handwarm water and allow the filters to dry thoroughly before replacing into the cleaner. ! Important - Use only handwarm water. Do not use hot water or detergents. ! In the unlikely event of the filters becoming damaged, please fit a replacement. REMEMBER: Always press the on/off button to completely switch off the cleaner. Pre-motor filter - Remove pre-motor filter, wash under handwarm water and dry thoroughly before replacing into cleaner. Part no 03875009 (Picture 18) 6. Infrared Remote Control Panel (pic 8) Flashing Red: Check dust bag and empty if necessary. Exhaust filter - Remove exhaust filter, wash in upside-down poition under hand warm water as shown. Please replace filter in its original position when dry. Part no H12-04365057, H13-04365062 (Picture19 & 20) Green: Flashing Red: - Stand by Check exhaust filter and wash if necessary. All Flashing: - Overheat warning. Thermal cut out prevents the cleaner from overheating. Please switch the cleaner off. It will take approximately 30 minutes to reset and be ready for use. AC 5 GB ACCESSORIES Please see model specification for inclusion of accessories to individual models. However all accessories can be purchased separately from Hoover. Turbo Nozzle - Turbo Nozzle - Use the turbo nozzle for deep cleaning on carpets. IMPORTANT: Do not use the turbo nozzle on rugs with long fringes, animal hide and over carpet tiles with a depth exceeding 15mm. Do not keep the nozzle stationary while the brush is rotating. Part No J17 - 04845030 (Picture 21) Caresse Nozzle - Use over wooden and all delicate floors to avoid scratching. Part No G61 04845049 (Picture 22) Additional Tools (as standard): - Crevice Tool - For corners and hard to reach areas. Furniture Nozzle - For soft furnishings and fabrics. Dusting Brush - For bookshelves, frames, keyboards etc. (Picture 23) REMOVING A BLOCKAGE FROM THE SYSTEM If the bag check indicator on your cleaner is illuminated or flashing: 1. 2. A) Check if the dust bag is full. If so refer to page 5 - Cleaner Maintenance - Replacing the dust bag. If not full then: Do the filters need cleaning? - If so refer to page 5 - 'Cleaner Maintenance - Cleaning the lifetime washable filters'. Check if there is any other blockage in the system: - B) Use a rod or pole to remove any blockage from the tubes and flexible hose. It may also be possible to remove an obstruction in the zoom tube by lightly squeezing or bending it. Clean the underside of the carpet and hard floor nozzle frequently by using the crevice tool. USER CHECKLIST The following is a simple user checklist before calling your local Hoover Service. Please note that a service charge will be made if the cleaner is examined and found in working order, has not been assembled in accordance with these instructions, or has been misused. IMPORTANT INFORMATION GENUINE HOOVER SPARES AND CONSUMABLES Is there a working electricity supply to the cleaner? - Please check with another electrical appliance. Is the dust bag over-filled? - Please refer to page 5 - (Cleaner Maintenance). Are the filters blocked? - Please refer to page 5 (Cleaning the lifetime washable filters). Is the hose or nozzle blocked? - Please see section below - 'Removing a blockage from the system' Has the cleaner over-heated? If so, it will take approximately 30 minutes to re-set. Is the infrared remote control unit not working? - Check if batteries are working and fitted properly. Always replace parts with genuine Hoover spares and consumables. These are available from your local Hoover dealer or direct from Hoover. When ordering parts, please always quote your model number. HOOVER SERVICE Should you require service at any time, please call you local Hoover Service office.
